Knutsford Library, Toft Road, Knutsford, Cheshire, WA16 0PG

Alison Uttley is famous as the author of the Little Grey Rabbit children’s books. Born on a hill farm in Derbyshire at the end of the 19th century she lived briefly in the Old Vicarage in Knutsford and read Physics at Manchester. In 1906 she became the second woman honours graduate of the University. There is much more to her life than children’s books. A significant literary figure she wrote on a wide range of subjects – novels, essays, even a book of recipes – and is herself the subject of a fascinating biography by Dennis Judd. Join us to discover more about the life and work of this intriguing Knutsford resident. We will have images, readings, Q & A and refreshments. This event is suited to adults.
