Peover Hall is a Grade II* listed Elizabethan manor and family home, situated within approx. 500 acres of landscaped 18th Century parkland. The gardens, designed between 1890-1900, cover 15 acres and include a series of garden ‘rooms’.
In the grounds there are working stables, estate cottages and the parish church of St Laurence which contains two Mainwaring Chapels.
The spectacular architectural gem, the Grade I Carolean stables, were built in 1654 and feature ornately carved stalls and the original Tuscan columns and strap work.
There is also a coach house, beside the Stables, with a working bell tower.
During WW2 the house was requisitioned as the HQ for General Patton of the US 3rd Army to train for the D-Day landings in 1944, it also housed a POW camp.
